Good evening, St. Mary’s Families –

As you may be aware, contract negotiations between the Canadian Union of Public Employees – Ontario (CUPE) and the Ontario government have yet to produce an agreement.

While we encourage both sides to come to a fair agreement, we do understand that if one is not met there could be a strike by CUPE as early as Friday, November 4.

As a result, the school board is currently planning for a switch to remote learning for our students, should that become necessary.

Should we need to pivot to remote learning, students will be asked to refer to the strategies and devices they used during the school closures throughout the pandemic. Most students should have access to a device and internet access to complete work assigned by their classroom teachers.

St. Mary’s does have a limited supply of devices to distribute to unique and extenuating circumstances where students would not have access to a device. Guardians of students in this group can request a device by emailing christine.vanderheide@wcdsb.ca.

Please also see the FAQs for parents (link below) to provide answers to some questions you may have.

Thank you in advance for your patience as we work to ensure our students have the resources they need to continue learning during this uncertain time.

Take care,

Staff at St. Mary’s
