Relay for Life has become an important tradition at St. Mary’s! Since 2018, St. Mary’s has raised over $315,000 and counting in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

Relay 2026 will happen on our school football field on Thursday, May 28th, from 10:15 AM until 2:55 PM. In addition to raising funds for much-needed cancer research and programs, Relay for Life brings the school community together for an awesome day that they will always remember!

This year, our goal is to raise $55,000 in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.

As participants walk around the field, there will also be awesome activities that they can participate in, such as team challenges, jumbo games, inflatable sports games, face painting and henna, a raffle table with amazing prizes, BBQ lunch, DJ, photo booth, snack tent, and so much more!

In addition to all of the fun that day, it is very important that we remember why we relay. The first lap of Relay will begin with cancer survivors in our St. Mary’s community. Throughout the day, there will be opportunities for teams to write notes of encouragement that will be delivered to patients at Grand River Cancer Centre. Our Relay 2026 will close with a powerful luminary ceremony to honour those who have been impacted by cancer.

Registration for Relay costs $20. The registration fee includes an event t-shirt, BBQ lunch, and all of the activities for the day. Each student or staff member who registers for Relay must raise a minimum of $50 (in addition to the $20 registration fee) in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. Students will be given an online fundraising page when they register.  Students must also submit a completed, signed parent/guardian permission form.

To register, click the link below or go to the school website and find the banner that says, “Relay for Life.” Students can register as an individual or as part of a team – any size team is welcome!
