Good afternoon, St. Mary’s Community,
The Ministry of Education is restarting the literacy test this year for Grade 10, 11 and non-graduating Grade 12 students. The OSSLT (Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test) remains a graduation requirement for eligible students.
It is the Ministry of Education’s expectation that students who are writing the OSSLT, must do so in-person. Our remote learning students will have the opportunity to write the test this fall, however, they will be required to come on site to write the test. Further communication will be sent to our remote learners to determine next steps.
The OSSLT will be administered twice this school year. The first opportunity will occur on the following dates:
- Nov 24th – grade 11 & 12 students (plus remote learners in these grades)
- Students in grade 9 & 10, and grade 11’s & 12’s not writing the OSSLT will learn, asynchronously, from home
- Nov 25th – grade 10 students (plus remote learners in this grade)
- Students in grade 9, 11 & 12 will learn, asynchronously, from home

Thanks and take care,
